The Dundee Township Park District will save more than $1.8 million by refunding its Alternate Revenue Source Bonds, Series 2010A on December 8, 2020. With the refunding, the District will be issuing Alternate Revenue Source Bonds, Series 2020A & 2020B with a final maturity date of December 15, 2034, on both issuances and an average interest rate of 2.07%.

The Series 2010A bonds were initially issued in the amount of $13,500,000 to construct the Randall Oaks Recreation Center. These bonds had a final maturity date of December 15, 2034.

The Park District has paid down $2,335,000 of the 2010A bonds, leaving the remaining $11,165,000 to be refinanced by the 2020A and 2020B bonds.

“This couldn’t come at a better time for our Dundee Township residents as we continue to face challenges with the pandemic,” Dundee Township Park District Executive Director Dave Peterson said. “The District Board and staff made this refinancing a priority. The District was able to lock in an interest rate of 2.07%, and the bonds will be completely paid off in 2034.”

The decision to refinance the bonds was part of the District’s commitment to continually evaluate their financial position and provide quality recreational services at a reasonable expense to the residents of Dundee Township.

The District’s success and fiscally conservative approach have not gone unnoticed. In 2019, the District was awarded its first Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association.

The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to Dundee Township Park District by Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

“This is the first year that Dundee Township Park District has received this award. Transparency in our financial reporting is paramount when it comes to operating public programs and facilities,” Dave Peterson, Executive Director, said in the release.

The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.

We have exciting news to share with you regarding the fitness locker rooms at the Rakow Center. The Park District Board of Commissioners approved renovating the Rakow Center locker rooms in 2023.

Therefore, the fitness locker room will be closed beginning Monday, March 13, until the project is completed (approximately three months). In the meantime, fitness members will have full access to the pool locker rooms for changing and showering, including additional changing rooms on the pool deck. A bank of lockers will also be inside the fitness area to store your items.

The renovation will refresh the thirty-three-year-old locker room with a new, updated, modern space. The private showers and redesigned changing area will provide a peaceful environment for your pre- or post-workout experience.

Improvements Include:

  • Installation of new wall and floor tile
  • New countertops, sinks, and fixtures
  • Upgraded showers
  • Full-height lockers with mechanical keypads, mirrors with lights
  • Fresh carpeting in locker areas

Check out the rendering of what the locker room will look like once completed. We can’t wait for you to enjoy it!
